Rock temperature variability in high-altitude rockfall-prone areas

چکیده

In a context of cryosphere degradation caused by climate warming, rock temperature is one the main driving factors rockfalls that occur on high-elevation mountain slopes. order to improve knowledge this critical relationship, it necessary increase measurement capability and its variability in different lithological slope/aspect conditions, also local scale studies, increasing quality comparability data. This paper shows an example metrological characterization sensors used for regions, means uncertainty. Under such approach, data results from measurements carried out Bessanese experimental site (Western European Alps) are illustrated. The procedures calibration field allow measure locations, depths lithotypes, within 0.10 °C overall work has highlighted traceability fundamental asses establish among measurements; there strong differences between air near-surface temperature; significant acquired aspect conditions. Finally, solar radiation, conditions lithotype, seem be temperature.

Simulation of rockfall trajectories with consideration of rock shape

The aim of the paper is to develop a fully 3D simulation technique for rockfall dynamics taking rock shape into account and using the state-of-the-art methods of multibody dynamics and nonsmooth contact dynamics. The rockfall simulation technique is based on the nonsmooth contact dynamics method with hard contact laws. The rock is modeled as an arbitrary convex polyhedron and the terrain model ...

Role of the RhoA/ROCK pathway in high-altitude associated neonatal pulmonary hypertension in lambs.

Exposure to high-altitude chronic hypoxia during pregnancy may cause pulmonary hypertension in neonates, as a result of vasoconstriction and vascular remodeling. We hypothesized that susceptibility to pulmonary hypertension, due to an augmented expression and activity of the RhoA/Rho-kinase (ROCK) pathway in these neonates, can be reduced by daily administration of fasudil, a ROCK inhibitor. We...

High altitude impairs nasal transepithelial sodium transport in HAPE-prone subjects.

High-altitude pulmonary oedema (HAPE) occurs in predisposed individuals at altitudes >2,500 m. Defective alveolar fluid clearance secondary to a constitutive impairment of the respiratory transepithelial sodium transport contributes to its pathogenesis. Hypoxia impairs the transepithelial sodium transport in alveolar epithelial type II cells in vitro. If this impairment is also present in vivo,...
